SovereignAI Grid Submitted to EuroHPC Joint Undertaking
We are proud to announce that SovereignAI Grid has been officially submitted as the Dutch proposal within the European AI Gigafactory tender by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (June 2025). This unique European call aims to establish five large-scale AI hubs, with a total budget of €20 billion to secure Europe's digital sovereignty.
Why This Matters
The Netherlands stands at a turning point. Just as Schiphol Airport and the Port of Rotterdam once defined our economic position, an AI Gigafactory can now become the backbone of our digital and societal future. SovereignAI Grid distinguishes itself by not only focusing on scale and computing power, but by setting a new standard where human value, privacy, and sustainability are central.
Our Vision
While many parties approach the tender as purely an infrastructure project, SovereignAI Grid offers a broader approach:
Digital Sovereignty
European control over data and computing power, keeping sensitive information within EU borders and under European legislation.
Sustainability
- 100% renewable energy for all operations
- Circular heat utilization for local communities
- Emission-free operations with negative CO2 footprint
Human Value
Integration of innovative concepts such as Human Tokens, where empathy, care, and societal contribution become measurable and rewardable within the AI ecosystem.
Next Steps
The European Commission will evaluate the proposals in the coming months. Only five consortia in Europe will be selected. Through this proposal, the Netherlands has the opportunity to position itself as an ethical and technological leader in AI infrastructure.
